East Meets West
As the name suggests, ‘East Meets West’ is the coming together of the Oriental and Contemporary Styles. Here the Eastern/ Oriental Influence is the Indian Handicraft Techniques such as Ajrakh Block Print using Vegetable Colours and “Bandhej’ which is the Hand Tie & Dye Technique. These are coupled with Contemporary Silhouettes such as drapes and semi drape styles which have a modern aesthetic. The fabrics are Indian silk blends which make it appropriate for the weather and occasion in India but again have a global appeal. These styles are created keeping in mind the Indian Women’s Body and ensuring that the drapes look body flattering. Traditional Craft techniques of Ajrakh and Bandhani are executed keeping in mind the new age taste and still being able to retain the ‘Indianness’.
